Lenten Programs for Congregational Leaders

During Lent, three new online programs will provide lay and clergy leaders the opportunity to learn and discuss approaches for our common life. The programs, which will all be held on Zoom, will be led by Canon Twila Smith.

Forming New Rhythms of Life in Community: March 22, March 29 and April 5

In this three-session program, congregational leaders will work together to discern the mission to which God is calling them, assess the needs of their congregations and evaluate their capacity for worship, outreach and programming. The sessions will help congregations create roadmaps and develop recommendations for planning. This group will meet March 22, March 29, and April 5 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Eastern on Zoom.

Getting the Church Talking: March 21 and April 4 or March 22 and April 5

This two-part program is designed to help congregation and group leaders have meaningful conversations. The group will explore principles of Appreciative Inquiry and share practical resources for group use. The April sessions will focus on the book “How the Body of Christ Talks,” by C. Christopher Smith. Two groups will convene: March 22 and April 5 from 3-4:30 p.m. or March 21 and April 4 from 7-8:30 p.m., both on Zoom.

Preparing for Easter Welcome

Using resources from Invite-Welcome-Connect, participants will explore how we help church members invite others, extend welcome, and connect with visitors and newcomers. This group will meet at 3 p.m. on March 13 and 20 on Zoom.

Please email Canon Twila Smith to learn more and register for any of these programs.
